Esbjerg Festuge 2026 receives distinguished guests on opening day when the American organ virtuoso Dr. Faythe Freese visits Denmark.

As Professor Emerita at the University of Alabama School of Music, Freese has established herself as one of the most significant organists in the United States, and critics describe her playing as powerful, masterful, and brilliant. Her international career has taken her to concert halls and cathedrals around the world. She has earned special recognition as the only American woman to have recorded in L’Eglise de la Sainte-Trinité in Paris on the historic instrument where great names such as Messiaen and Guilmant once worked. Her extensive discography and publications reflect deep professional expertise, supported by studies with composers such as Jean Langlais and Heinz Wunderlich.

At the concert in Esbjerg, she presents a versatile and technically demanding program that showcases her wide range. The audience can look forward to works by Jean Langlais, Florence B. Price, Bjarne Hersbo, and Dan Locklair. As a special highlight, the concert features the Danish premiere of *The Colorado Suite*, composed by Pamela Decker.
